FAQs On Heating & Cooling
If you’re interested in purchasing a new heating and cooling system, peruse our list of FAQs for more information. We’ve gathered together some of the most popular questions posed to us by customers so that you can quickly learn a bit more about your options.
Which type of heating and cooling system would best suit my home or business?
Due to the many differences between each application, we cannot say which type would best suit your home or business without more information. A one-size-fits-all solution simply does not exist. We will need to review several factors with you, including the usage, location, type of structure, expected comfort level, and the estimated return on your investment. After listening carefully to your concerns and the benefits you hope to achieve with your new equipment, we can make a recommendation.
What is the most efficient heating and cooling system available?
Geothermal ground-source heating and cooling systems use less energy and can also provide hot water for domestic systems and radiant floor heating. However, some areas and structure designs are not receptive to these systems. In these situations, we need to look at two-stage, high-SEER (seasonal energy efficient ratio) heat pumps with either variable-speed air handlers or variable-speed gas furnaces.
Should I use a single- or multi-zoned system?
Each application is different. There are situations in which zoning a home with one system could be more cost effective and actually allow for more “spot” cooling or heating to specific areas than a standard multi-zone system installation. However, there are also applications in which the cooling or heating system design requires more than one system can provide, creating a need for multiple systems. Using our design experience and installation expertise, we can determine whether a multi- or single-zone system would best fit your home or business. Then, taking the complete picture into account, we can offer a suggestion so that you can make an informed decision.
How will the ductwork type, design, and installation affect our structure?
You are building a structure that will last a lifetime, and your ductwork should meet this high standard for quality. Flexible ducting often proves inadequate; it welcomes in rodents that can spread diseases in the air stream and cause air leakages. Your ductwork, constructed of rigid metal, should be properly designed, sized, insulated, and sealed at the joints to satisfy your comfort needs. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the best duct system possible, taking into account your budget, goals, and concerns.
Does Long Heating And Cooling provide financing options?
Yes. Upon credit approval, we offer financing through Synchrony Financial. We can pre-approve you with a simple application, determine exactly how much you will qualify for, and then design a system to meet that price point. In addition, we suggest the use of home equity loans, and we have commercial leasing programs available with approved credit.
